Last night Mum called after the extended family Zoomenanny (yes, we're using Zoom for a once-per-week hootenanny, because the Harcourt brand can't be dented by a little thing like a pandemic) to ask, among other things, what I was planning to make for myself for Easter. I didn't want to admit it was "probably nothing," so I said "I have ham and eggs and cheese, so I can make quiche." Which is true. I have all those things and I can make quiche. There's a non-zero chance I won't just sit around looking wan and tragic and will do things today like make quiche and shower (maybe not in that order).
But man. The old executive functions are really getting slippery now that I don't have an external reason to power through them.
Yesterday I drove up to Deerfield and walked around the empty village and campus, then took the walking path through the Yazwinski farm and communed with some dairy cows who desperately wanted to hang out with me. They followed me as I walked along their pasture fence. It was pretty nice to have company, even if it was the bovine kind.
It's 11am now. If I'm going to clean up the kitchen and put away my laundry (and do more laundry, and vacuum, and dust) I should probably get started. Time to put on some Patsy Cline and go out walkin' after midnight.
And then maybe I will make that quiche for myself for dinner tonight, after all.
